Its a week later, and the kid is still not feeling right. We took him back to the doctor this morning, to see what's going on. She saw no sign of infection, but agreed that the cough, the irritibility, etc is worth monitoring. It could be a long lasting upper respiratory infection (there is something like that going around). It might also be seasonal allergies. She suggested we give him Children's Zyrtec.

He wasn't the only family member to see a doctor today. The cat, 14 1/2 years old, visited the vet because she's been losing weight despite a pretty good appetite. She's had some vomiting and diarrhea too, a few times a week. She had Xrays, bloodwork, and urine tests done. The xrays didn't show anything to worry about. There's a chance that her thyroid has gone into overdrive -- that is a very common condition in senior citizen cats. We'll get the lab results probably on Friday.
