My sister gave me a really good idea last night, so I owe all credit for this to her / her husband / her oldest boy.
A wanted an "Ariel story" and because of the idea, he got a new story -- "Goldifish and the Three Mermaids". The mermaids were characters from the Disney "Little Mermaid" series of movies. Goldifish swam from her home (a goldfish bowl!) to the palace of King Triton, and thought she'd look around. The biggest mermaid was King Triton (yes, I know, technically a merman, so an Ethel? Ethel Merman. Never mind. Back to my post.). The middle sized mermaid was Ariel. The littlest mermaid was Ariel's daughter Melody. Instead of porridge, it was fishy porridge. Instead of chairs, it was Triton's throne, Ariel's big overstuffed chair (very soggy) that came from the surface world, and Melody's seashell chair. I think Triton slept in a big bed made of shells. Ariel slept in a bed made of seaweed. Melody slept in a hammock taken from a shipwreck. Every time they discovered signs of an intruder, King Triton roared, looked for someone to zap with his trident, and called for his palace guards! Ariel looked around for Prince Eric (in case he was visiting). Melody just said the traditional lines. By the time they got to the spot where they found Goldifish sleeping, the room was so crowded that nobody could move and Goldifish, being tiny, just swam out between their tails and ran away home, where she happily ate her own fish food flakes, played in her toy castle, and then snuggled into her own bubbly treasure chest bed.
Next up: "the three little mermaids and the big bad shark" and Little Red Mermaid hood"
