Physically larger children get ripped off in the baby gear department. All of the cute "baby" clothes are geared towards your average to small child, while the larger child (like mine) is wearing size 3T (or bigger) by the time he's 19 months old. They very quickly get too heavy to use portable car seats, or bouncing chairs, or bumbos, or umbrella strollers, or any number of other things.
With that in mind, I'm going to start a Big Baby tag, and mark posts that contain items that work for larger young kids. This is the first one.
Carter's brand of clothing seems to be cut bigger than just about any other brand, with the possible exception of Oshkosh B'Gosh. Since Carter's owns the Oshkosh brand, that makes sense. Carter's and Oshkosh also have the advantage of making very nice, very soft clothing. If I could buy Carter's for myself, I would.
StrideRite makes beginners shoes in larger sizes and wider widths for chubby little feet.
Britax makes car seats which can accommodate larger children, which means that kids that are just plain tall can use these safer seats rather than switch into less safe booster seats.
